MEET THE WOLFPACK

If you follow NBA Top Shot on Twitter, you're bound to see wolf GIFs every now and then. A lot of them.

The reason? The Wolfpack.

Synonymous with the Throwdown set, they're one of the greatest communities on Top Shot. So before the greatest dunks of the season drop on Thursday, minted to just 888 each, we asked a few Wolves about their favorite Moments.

Nobody Stopping Keldon Johnson, Series 2

The Keldon Johnson S2 Throwdowns is a great Moment and my favorite from the set! It starts with a fantastic thumbnail showing him ready to attack the rim. As the video rolls, he gives a little pump fake and gets down hill quickly. The defender at the rim has no chance to stop him, and you can see it in Keldon’s face. The Moment ends with Keldon’s teammate – Poeltl – looking around like he wasn’t sure if he was just posterized, too!

Malik Monk Runs The Floor, Finishes With The Flex

The dunk I’m most looking forward to in S3 Throwdowns is the Malik Monk alley-oop. The Lakers have had their struggles this season, but Monk has had a few big moments when called upon. The play starts with Monk on defense. Even though his teammate threw an alley-oop just slightly behind him, it didn’t matter. Monk grabs it with both hands, transitions it immediately to one, and ferociously throws it down. He immediately flexes toward the bench and the bench erupts!

Miles Bridges Throws Down The Hammer, Series 2

Miles Bridges was made for the Throwdowns Set. Or maybe the Throwdowns set was made for Miles Bridges. There's a reason his first 10 Moments on NBA Top Shot were dunks. He consistently attacks the rim with an unmatched level of athleticism and ferocity, and has no regard for anyone who might try to get in his way. In his Series 2 Throwdowns Moment, he elevates and throws down an absolutely devastating dunk right over elite rim protector, Clint Capela. But Capela looks neither surprised, nor embarrassed after the play. He knows that dunks like this are just what Miles Bridges does.

Ja's Slam From His Iconic Night

The Series 3 Throwdowns moment I am most excited for is the Ja Morant dunk from February 28, 2022 against the Spurs. This also happens to be the same game where he scored his career high 52 points and made his amazing halftime buzzer beater featured in his MGLE. Morant frequently amazes us with his high flying athleticism, and in this dunk, he adds some power as he soars above the rim and throws down a viscous one handed dunk over Jakob Poeltl. This was his night, and he made sure his dominance was felt on the scoreboard as well as the highlight reel.

Anthony Edwards Doing What He Does Best, Series 2

It’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s AntMan flying through the air doing what he does best - dunks! In his rookie year, Anthony Edwards at 6’ 4” and rumored still growing, runs between two Portland Trail Blazers defenders while jumping through the air and making the dunk. There was no crowd to go wild in the building during this pandemic dunk, but fans could be heard cheering from their homes!

Naz Reid Gets The People Up

Naz Reid is a beast on the Timberwolves. I’m so excited for his February 8, 2022 powerful, NBA Top Shot S3 Throwdowns worthy dunk against the Sacramento Kings. Reid DESTROYS Alex Len who tries to block the dunk, but Reid pushes through and over Len. The crowd and Timberwolves bench goes wild, then as the Kings got the ball back, Jordan McLaughlin steals it and puts up another nearly-instant two points for the Timberwolves. By this point, the crowd is nearly out of control, the Timberwolves bench is off their feet, and extreme cheering can be heard all across Minnesota and the world.

Hamidou Diallo Takes Flight, Series 2

Court vision, speed, and a dash of swagger is all Detroit Pistons Hamidou Diallo needs to take advantage of an out of place transitioning Dallas Mavericks defense that can only try to play catch up as he flashes past them to take the paint and then lay down a howling two handed monster jam.

Russ Gonna Russ

With complete disregard for himself or anybody else silly enough to get in his way, Russell Westbrook comes barreling down the lane and launches himself like a rocket into the stratosphere only to come crashing down with a devastating tomahawk jam all over Rudy Gobert. The crowd goes nuts and the celebratory trash talk with Lebron is the icing on the cake in this battle vs the Utah Jazz.

DeRozan Against His Old Squad, Series 1

One of my favourite Series 1 Throwdowns Moments is from DeMar DeRozan. As a former beloved Raptor, DeMar likely had extra motivation to bring his A-game against his old team. The dunk itself is epic as DeMar drives and throws it down with authority over Chris Boucher. His incredible 25-8-4-2 performance helped secure a single point Spurs road-win, 105-104, and had Raptors fans reminiscing on the good old days. I believe the dunk now ages even better knowing DeMar used his time with the Raptors and Spurs as professional stepping stones to success with the Bulls. He played with heart in Toronto, and I will always cheer for him.

Isaac Okoro Over Everybody

For Series 3 Throwdowns, besides anything from Ja Morant, I'm most looking forward to seeing the Isaac Okoro Moment where he dunked on three Houston Rockets players. It's hard to stop a man on a mission, and Isaac was locked into throwing that ball down the instant he had possession. I hope future defenders take note if he looks like he’s about to drive.

Joel Embiid Puts It All On The Line

The Moment I am most excited to see is the Joel Embiid Throwdown over Jarrett Allen.  In typical fashion, Joel showed no regard for his body and leaped from a foot outside the restricted zone to be greeted by fellow All-Star and defensive stand-out Jarrett Allen at the rim. Two men entered, but only Embiid would leave. It’s well known that the beating heart of philadelphia is not the marble of city hall, it’s the hardwood of the Wells Fargo Center.  In this literal throw-down, Joel shows why he will live forever in the hearts and minds of the Sixers faithful.
